Sea Point Lawn Tennis Club was founded in 1883 and is thought to be the oldest club in Cape Town. The Club was originally situated in Graham Road, Sea Point. After the Second World War the club moved to its present situation in Bantry Bay.
Over the years the club was a hive of activity in the Cape Town tennis world. Many times it won top honours in the Premier leagues of mens, ladies and mixed leagues. It also hosted The Sea Point Open which was said by many of the players involved, to be one of the best tournaments on the senior circuit in Cape Town. The club also has the honour of owning some of the oldest Club Championship Cups which are now on permanent loan to the Western Province Tennis Association.
